Adrian swiped his fingers across the tablet, opening a progress window.
A directory tree of Marcus’s private files was actively copying over.
“The ledger,” I said, my breath catching as I saw the file names.
“He kept the duplicate ledger on this local device.”
“We have everything we need to dismantle his network,” Adrian said.
He glanced out the side window into the dark.
Through the rain, three black SUVs moved silently into the alley behind the warehouse.
Their headlights were off, their tires splashing quietly through the deep puddles.
Men in dark tactical gear began to exit the vehicles, moving with absolute precision.
They carried compact weapons and wore heavy body armor.
“My team is moving to the rear entrance,” Adrian said.
“They will breach the loading dock first to draw his guards away from the office.”
“What about Clara?” I asked.
“My lead officer, Hayes, is taking a secondary team through the roof hatch,” Adrian said.
“They will drop directly into the secure room where she is being held.”
He reached over and gently squeezed my arm, his grip warm and grounding.
