Elliot walked toward the door, his leather shoes clicking on the floor.

He stopped near the doorway and looked back at me.

“Are you coming, Arden?” he asked.

“In a moment,” I said.

Elliot nodded and left the room, followed by Arthur Vance.

The door closed, leaving me alone in the room with Graham.

The silence was different now, lighter.

Graham stood by the window, looking out at the Dallas skyline.

“Why did you do it this way?” he asked, his voice quiet.

“You could have just asked for a divorce.”

“You would have hidden the money,” I said.

“I would have given you half,” he said.

“You didn’t have half to give,” I said. “You spent it on Bianca’s apartment and the plane.”

I stood up and smoothed my skirt.

“I’m going to the house now,” I said. “The movers are already there.”

“The movers?” he asked.

“Your things will be at the storage facility on Industrial Boulevard,” I said. “I paid for the first month.”

I picked up my handbag and walked toward the door.
