“Ladies and gentlemen,” Mr. Han’s voice boomed through the speakers.

“Welcome to the annual Lotus Bay Spring Gala.”

The crowd clapped politely.

I stood up from my booth, smoothing the front of my green silk gown.

I stepped out of the shadows, walking slowly toward the side of the stage.

Mr. Han looked in my direction, giving me a microscopic nod.

“Tonight, we are honored to celebrate not just our guests, but the future of the resort,” Mr. Han continued.

“As many of you know, Lotus Bay has operated under a private trust for the past five years.”

“But tonight, the trust has been dissolved.”

“We are proud to introduce the sole owner of Lotus Bay Resort, who is also the chairperson of the Arden Funding Syndicate.”

Vivian was standing frozen near her table, her eyes wide.

Daniel was staring at the stage, his breath catching in his throat.

The master of ceremonies reached for the cue card.

My phone buzzed in my hand, a message from my legal team lighting up the screen.
