“Mother, look at this,” Claire said, turning her screen toward Vivian. “Daniel just posted a photo from the Presidential Pavilion. He says he’s negotiating with the Vance Group.”
“The Vance Group?” Vivian’s eyes lit up. “Evelyn Vance? Oh, she is such a lovely girl. So elegant. Not like that mouse he married.”
“He said Evelyn loves the resort,” Claire said, her voice rising so the nearby tables could hear. “He’s probably showing her the private beach right now.”
“As he should,” Vivian said, taking a sip of her water. “If Daniel plays his cards right, he can finally get rid of Maya. A real divorce, none of this waiting around.”
“Do you think he will?” Claire asked. “He’s so soft-hearted. He actually felt sorry for her because her parents died.”
“He will,” Vivian said firmly. “I’ve already told him that if he wants to inherit his father’s shares, he needs a wife who can actually help his career. Maya is just a domestic drag.”
Thomas walked up to their table, carrying a bottle of vintage champagne.
“Compliments of the house, ladies?” Claire asked, her eyes glittering.
