I kept one hand on the steering wheel and used the other to pick up my phone again.
I called my personal public relations advisor, Sarah.
“Daniel,” Sarah said.
“I heard there is a meeting being called by the board.”
“There is,” I said.
“I need you to draft a press release.”
“About what?” she asked.
“I am officially acknowledging Claire Bennett as the biological mother of Lucas and Owen,” I said.
“I want it sent to every major outlet tomorrow morning.”
I heard a sharp intake of breath on the other end.
“Daniel, you can’t,” Sarah said.
“The bylaws state that any public scandal regarding the heirs allows the board to activate the buyout clause.”
“They will buy your shares at a fraction of their value.”
“They will take the company from you.”
“I know,” I said.
“Do it anyway.”
“Let me look at the legalities first,” she pleaded.
“No,” I said.
“Draft it.”
