“The Department of Justice already has those names,” I said. “We got them from the server in Geneva three hours ago.”
Grant’s face went pale under the dim interior light of the SUV.
“What?” he whispered.
“You are late to the table, Grant,” I said. “Your mother’s Swiss associates cleared their databases, but we had a mirror drive.”
He shook his head, his lips parted in disbelief.
“There has to be something else,” he said. “The land deeds. The offshore holdings in the Cayman Islands. I know where the physical certificates are stored.”
“We found them in the library safe ten minutes after we breached the house,” I said.
He slumped back against the leather seat, his shoulders dropping.
The rain dripped from the brim of my tactical cap, hitting the gravel near my boots.
“You’re going to let them destroy me,” he said, his voice barely audible over the sound of the rain.
“You destroyed yourself,” I said. “You did it the moment you signed those manifests.”
“I did it for us,” he said, his eyes searching mine. “To build a future. So we wouldn’t have to live on a military salary forever.”
