“Do not panic,” Margaret said, her voice dropping into her professional, courtroom register. “A media leak is a desperate move. It means they know they cannot win legally under the current terms of the trust.”

“But the press will run it,” I said. “It will ruin my chances of keeping my daughter safe.”

“Send me the files,” Margaret ordered. “Look at the metadata if you can, or any other attachments they might have accidentally included in the leak package.”

I forwarded the email to Margaret.

Then I began scrolling through the PDF document page by page.

The file was unusually large, nearly fifty megabytes.

That did not make sense for a few pages of text notes.

I scrolled past the forged medical letters.

At the back of the file, there were several pages of scanned financial documents.

They seemed to be receipts and invoices used to verify the “dates” of my supposed breakdowns at various local hotels and clinics.

I zoomed in on one of the receipts.

It was an invoice from Vale Design Group.

The address listed was a small post office box downtown.
