The Silent Clause That Exposed My Husband and Reclaimed My Family Home
“I am not hiding anything,” I said.
“The bank agreed with me,” Nathan said softly.
My chest tightened, a sudden chill spreading through my limbs.
“What did you do, Nathan?”
He took a sip of his scotch, letting the silence stretch between us.
“I called our private banker this afternoon.”
“I told him you have been experiencing severe prenatal anxiety.”
“I explained that your doctors have put you on strict bed rest due to high blood pressure.”
“And that you are currently not in a state to make sound financial decisions.”
I took a step backward, my heel hitting the baseboard of the hallway.
“You had no right to tell them that.”
“I am your husband,” he said.
“I have every right to protect our estate from hormonal instability.”
“So, as of four o’clock today, your access to the primary joint account has been suspended.”
“And your secondary credit cards have been deactivated.”
The room seemed to tilt slightly under my feet.
“You cut me off,” I whispered.
“I restricted your access for your own protection,” he corrected.
