“There is a manual override box near the old pump house,” I added.

Lorenzo looked at me, his dark eyes reflecting the green light of the monitor.

“How do you know that, Hunter?”

“I used to clean the filter lines down there,” I said.

“Julian helped design the backup systems five years ago.”

“He knows every blind spot in the cameras.”

Lorenzo turned back to the phone.

“Miller, redirect your team to the southern pump house.”

“Do not let him reach the outer fence.”

“Yes, sir,” Miller said.

The line went dead.

Lorenzo reached down and grabbed Evan by the collar of his shirt, dragging him up to a sitting position.

Evan groaned, his eyes unfocused.

“Where is the recovery agent, Evan?” Lorenzo asked, shaking him.

“Julian has it,” Evan whispered.

“In his pocket. The silver case.”

“He was going to use it to force you to sign the trust documents.”

“If the baby dies, the Rossi foundation control reverts to the board,” Evan said, his voice trembling.

“And Julian controls the board.”

Lorenzo’s face went pale.

“He starved my son for a signature,” Lorenzo whispered.
