“Yes,” David said. “At his real estate office. They walked him out in handcuffs in front of his staff.”

He slid a copy of a police report across the desk.

“The bank investigators found the forged signatures on the loan applications,” David explained. “They also found evidence of a second mortgage he took out on his own house using falsified documents.”

“And Kelsey?” I asked. “Did she know?”

“According to the sheriff’s department, she is claiming complete ignorance,” David said. “But she isn’t sticking around to help him.”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“She filed for divorce this afternoon,” David said. “Her lawyer has already requested a freeze on all of Trevor’s personal assets to protect her own interests.”

I looked down at the police report, seeing Trevor’s full name printed in bold black letters.

The man who had tried to ruin me was now locked in a cell.

“My parents?” I asked quietly.

“They are devastated, of course,” David said. “They tried to post his bail, but the judge set it too high due to the flight risk. Trevor had a passport and a large sum of cash in his briefcase when they took him in.”
