“Mr. Dane,” the judge said, looking down at Gavin’s attorney. “Do you wish to argue against the immediate forensic review of this drive by a court-appointed expert?”

Dane looked at Gavin, then back at the judge, his confident posture completely gone.

He cleared his throat.

“Your Honor, we… we would request a brief recess to consult with our client,” Dane stammered.

“Denied,” Judge Beckett said instantly. “We are going to plug this drive into the court’s secure monitor right now.”

She looked at her clerk.

“Mr. Harrison, please prepare the digital display,” she said.

The large flat-screen monitor mounted on the courtroom wall hummed to life, showing a blank blue screen.

My heart hammered in my chest as the clerk took the drive from the judge.

This was it.

Everything I had built, everything Gavin had tried to steal from me and the boys, was on that tiny piece of plastic.

The clerk inserted the drive into the computer.

A list of folders appeared on the screen, their names flashing in white text against the black background.

One folder was labeled *RRM_Corporate_Registry_Original*.

Another was labeled *Offshore_Transfers_2024*.
