“Ms. Pierce is in possession of a digital backup from the company’s private server,” Sarah continued. “A backup that contains the unaltered corporate registry, showing my client is the rightful fifty-one percent owner of the company.”

“This is highly irregular,” Dane objected, his voice rising a fraction of an octave. “Ms. Pierce is a company employee. Any data she has is proprietary and cannot be released without a corporate review.”

“She has been subpoenaed as an individual who was a witness to the notarization of the disputed documents,” Sarah countered. “The drive also contains evidence of systematic tax evasion and offshore account transfers designed to hide millions from these proceedings.”

Judge Beckett looked from Sarah to Gavin.

Gavin’s face had gone from smug to a deep, furious red.

“Is this true, Ms. Pierce?” Judge Beckett asked, looking past the attorneys directly into the gallery.

Sloane stood up slowly, her knees visibly shaking.

She reached into her bag and pulled out the small black USB drive.

“I have the drive, Your Honor,” Sloane said, her voice barely a whisper. “I brought it in response to the subpoena.”
