A text message lit up her screen, casting a blue glow over her trembling fingers.
Sienna looked down at the screen, her breath catching in her throat.
She dropped her phone onto the dusty floor.
It landed face up on a pile of broken plaster, the screen cracked but still glowing.
“He knows,” she whispered, her voice cracking. “He knows I left the penthouse.”

Sienna screamed, jumping back against the doorframe.
“It’s okay,” I said quickly, holding my hands up to calm her. “He is with me.”
Sienna pressed her back against the wall, her chest heaving.
“Adrian Vale,” she breathed, recognizing him from the society pages.

He did not look angry; he looked focused, like a hunter who had finally spotted his prey.
“I can make that happen,” Adrian said. “But I need everything you have.”
Sienna looked from Adrian to me, her fingers twitching at her sides.
“He made me sign things,” she said, her voice trembling. “He made me open bank accounts in Switzerland.”
