“Edward is currently being detained in London,” Ryker said coldly.

“He won’t be ruining anyone.”

They dragged her down the corridor, her heels scraping against the floor.

Her protests faded as the heavy double doors swung shut behind them.

Silence returned to the gate.

Ryker stood still for a long moment, looking at the empty hallway.

Then he turned to me.

“Is the plane ready?” he asked.

“Yes,” I replied.

“Marco had the crew prep the private jet.”

“Good,” Ryker said.

“We are taking them to the estate.”

He looked toward the lounge window where Lily was watching us.

“They need to be somewhere safe,” he said.

“Somewhere no one can reach them.”

“And the investigation?” I asked.

“Marco’s team will start immediately,” Ryker said.

“I want to know every detail of the Vance family’s assets.”

“Every debt.”

“Every threat.”

He started toward the lounge door.

“We leave in ten minutes,” he said.

I followed him inside, watching as he knelt down to speak to the children.

His phone buzzed in his pocket again.

I saw the screen light up with an unknown international number.
