The Price of Silence and the Betrayal That Tore My Family Apart
I remembered Melanie’s smug face when she handed me a cup of cold water through the crack in the door.
“She told me Leo didn’t care,” I whispered.
Leo came to my side and wrapped his arms around my shoulders.
“I’m so sorry, Grace,” he murmured against my hair. “I should have known. I should have seen through them.”
“They lied to you, Leo,” I said. “They told you I was unstable.”
“They showed me fake emails,” Leo said, his voice cracked with emotion. “They made it look like you wanted to leave me.”
“We can prove those were spoofed now,” Marcus said, tapping his pen against his folder. “The forensics on this phone will show the origin IP addresses.”
The detective’s radio crackled on his shoulder.
A female voice spoke through the static.
“Vance, we have the warrant signed by Judge Miller,” the voice said. “Search of the Sullivan estate is authorized.”
Vance pressed the button on his collar. “Copy that. We are heading out now.”
He looked at Leo and me.
“We’re going to the main house,” Vance said. “To secure the computers and the router.”
