The Price of Silence and the Betrayal That Tore My Family Apart
Leo took a step back, his shoulders rising and falling as he breathed.
“She watched my son starve,” Leo said. “She watched Grace beg for help, and she blocked the calls.”
“It appears so,” Detective Vance said. “We also recovered a USB drive from her pocket.”
“What was on the drive?” I asked.
“Drafted custody agreements,” Vance said. “And financial transfer authorization forms.”
I felt a cold chill run down my spine despite the warmth of the hospital room.
“They were going to force me to sign them,” I said. “In exchange for Sam’s medical care.”
“That is what the evidence is suggesting,” Miller said.

I looked at my baby boy, his cheeks finally showing a touch of pink.
“Can we use this?” Leo asked, turning his gaze to the detectives. “Can we stop Josephine from taking him?”
“This changes the nature of the investigation,” Miller said. “We are no longer just looking at a domestic dispute.”
“This is criminal restraint,” Vance added. “And potentially worse.”
