His dark eyes fell on the package, staring at the faded ink of my name written on the front.
“I found this in the floorboards of Marlene’s guest cabin,” I said.
“It was mailed to me three weeks ago, with no return address.”
Damon did not touch it.
“You knew it was there,” I said, steping closer to him.
“You knew someone sent me the original medical records from Dr. Brooks, along with the offshore bank routing numbers.”
He slowly looked up at me, his face carved of granite.
“Nora,” he said softly.
“Tell me the truth,” I demanded.
I pointed a trembling finger at the glowing monitor.
“You did not just find me by accident.”
“And you did not just come to Copper Harbor to bring us home.”
“You have been fighting them,” I said, my chest rising and falling.
“This package contains the exact financial transactions you used to bankrupt Elaine’s partners.”
Damon stared at the envelope for a long moment.
Then, he let out a slow, tired breath.
He reached out and picked up the package, feeling its weight in his palm.
