A series of complicated financial transactions and digital signatures appeared on the screen in bright blue light.

“These are the actual wire transfers from the Bennett Foundation,” Gabriel explained, his voice calm and steady. “They never touched Claire’s accounts.”

“They went directly to a shell corporation called Shellwood Holdings, managed entirely by Ethan Cole.”

Vanessa looked up at the screen, her mouth slightly open as she read the names on the documents. “Ethan? What is that?”

“It’s a mistake,” Ethan stammered, his face turning a blotchy red as he looked around the room. “This is fabricated evidence.”

“We have the digital signatures,” Agent Harris said, stepping closer to Ethan. “They match your personal encryption key, Mr. Cole.”

My father stepped between Ethan and the agent, his eyes darting between Gabriel and the federal officers.

“Even if Ethan made some questionable business decisions, this does not concern the federal government on this scale,” Richard said, his voice hard.

Gabriel turned his gaze slowly to my father, his eyes narrowing.

“It does when the foundation was used to launder money to cover up a felony, Richard,” Gabriel said.
