“Thank you, Rachel,” I said. “Please stay away from him.”
“I am,” she said. “I’m at my own apartment. I locked the doors.”
“Keep yourself safe,” I said, and ended the call.
I turned to Robert. “He’s trying to liquidate the Swiss and Panama accounts.”
Robert’s expression didn’t change, but his eyes sharpened.
“He’s too late,” Robert said. “The federal investigators have already flagged those accounts based on the documents we submitted yesterday.”
He closed his laptop with a soft click.
“The motion is filed,” Robert said. “The judge will review it at eight o’clock tomorrow morning.”
“By noon, Daniel will be legally barred from entering the Mercer Development offices.”
“He will also be ordered to surrender his passport.”
I rubbed my temples, feeling a headache blossoming behind my eyes.
“He won’t go quietly,” I said.
“He doesn’t have a choice,” Robert replied.
He stood up, gathering his papers and placing them back in his briefcase.
“I should get back to my hotel,” he said. “The sheriff’s office promised they would keep a patrol car parked at the end of your street tonight.”
