She answered on the second ring, the background noise of the hospital hum clear behind her.

“Elizabeth,” Mara said, her voice low.

“Are you alright? The board meeting is set for nine tomorrow morning.”

“I know,” I said.

“I need a contact, Mara. Someone quiet, who works with digital forensics.”

There was a pause on the line as Mara stepped away from the nurses’ station.

“Why?” she asked.

“Because the video they sent to the board was edited,” I said.

“My brother Daniel did it to protect himself from Michael.”

“The original footage is still on the network in Patricia’s kitchen.”

“I need someone who can find it before tomorrow morning.”

Mara let out a low whistle.

“That’s a tight window, Elizabeth. And it’s highly illegal if you don’t have a warrant.”

“I don’t need them to hack her,” I said.

“The account is still linked to the old family sharing plan we set up years ago.”

“My email is still listed as an emergency backup contact on that device.”

“I just need someone who knows how to bypass the deleted cache interface.”
