“There are no glasses broken in my kitchen,” I said. “Only the bottle she shattered against my wall.”

“She has photographs of bruises on her arms, Elizabeth,” Michael said. “And she has a medical report from an urgent care clinic.”

“An urgent care clinic owned by one of your business associates, I assume,” I said.

Michael did not deny it. He merely adjusted his cuffs.

“The police have two conflicting statements now,” Michael said. “They will investigate both.”

“Let them,” I said. “The physical evidence in my apartment supports my story.”

“Do you think the police care about blood spatter patterns in a family dispute?” Daniel asked, stepping closer to the desk. “They see two relatives fighting over money.”

“This is about Jason’s future,” Daniel continued, his face red. “You are destroying his life because of your pride.”

“Jason tried to blackmail me, Daniel,” I said. “And Patricia physically assaulted me.”

“She is family,” Daniel pleaded, his hands open. “We handle these things internally.”

“We tried that,” I said. “It ended with me bleeding on my kitchen floor.”

Michael leaned over the desk, placing his palms flat on the dark wood.
