Arthur smiled faintly.
He did not look at Richard.
He looked at Daniel.
“Let the record show I am handing the witness Exhibit D,” Arthur said.
He slid a thick blue folder across the polished glass.
Daniel did not touch it.
“Open it, Daniel,” Arthur said quietly.
Miller, their attorney, reached over and opened the folder instead.
I watched Miller’s eyes scan the first page.
The color drained from the attorney’s face.
“What is this?” Miller asked, his voice losing its confident edge.
“Those are the transaction ledgers for Apex Holdings, registered in the Cayman Islands,” Arthur said.
Daniel glanced at his father.
Richard’s scowl faltered.
“These documents show a series of monthly transfers from Carter Logistics to Apex Holdings,” Arthur said.
“That is a legitimate consulting firm,” Daniel said, his voice rising.
“Apex Holdings is a shell corporation,” Arthur said. “The sole beneficiary is Sophia Vance.”
Margaret gasped, her hand flying to her throat.
“Who?” Margaret whispered.
“Sophia,” Arthur repeated. “Your son’s associate.”
“This is irrelevant to the marital assets,” Miller argued, though his voice lacked conviction.
