“Sophia, be quiet,” Daniel snapped.

“No,” Sophia said, her voice rising. “You told me she was a parasite who drained your accounts and wouldn’t put a single dollar into the firm.”

I looked at Sophia, letting a cold smile touch my lips.

“He told you that?” I asked.

“Yes,” Sophia said, her eyes darting between Daniel and me. “He said you were holding him back, that you never sacrificed anything for his family.”

“I gave up my family’s land to fund his first warehouse, Sophia,” I said quietly.

“And when that failed, I signed over my trust fund to save his father from a regulatory audit.”

Margaret gasped, her hand flying to her throat. “Emily, that is confidential family business.”

“Not anymore,” I said.

Sophia looked at Daniel, her expression changing from confusion to disgust.

“You lied to me,” Sophia said, her voice dropping an octave.

“I didn’t lie,” Daniel said, reaching out to grab her arm. “I was just trying to protect the business.”

Sophia pulled her arm away from his grasp, stepping back toward the hallway.
