“I have the emails,” Daniel said. “I can prove she was the mastermind behind the entire short-selling scheme.”
Clara’s face twisted in rage.
“You coward,” she said.
“I am cooperating fully,” Daniel said to the agents. “I will give you everything you need on her.”
Agent Miller did not look impressed.
He gestured to his colleagues.
“Take them both,” Miller said.
“Wait,” Clara said, backing toward the door. “I have my own records. I have proof he forced me into this.”
“You can discuss that with your counsel, Ms. Bennett,” Miller said.
The agents moved quickly.
One of them grabbed Clara’s arm, twisting it behind her back to apply the cuffs.
She did not fight, but she kept her eyes fixed on Daniel.
“You think you can pin this on me?” Clara said, her voice shaking with anger.
“It was your plan from the start, Clara,” Daniel said.
“I have the original audio files,” Clara said, raising her voice so the entire lobby could hear.
“I have the recordings of you planning the acquisition of my husband’s firm before he died,” she said.
