“If I hand them the bribery ledger and Hale’s signed testimony, they will have to bypass his court entirely.”

I looked at the black drive sitting on the table.

It looked so small, yet it held the weight of five years of misery.

“Will they take the case?” I asked.

“They have been looking for an opening into the Valenti organization for a decade,” Dominic said.

“This is the key they need.”

“But we have to get Dr. Hale out first,” I said, the memory of her scream still echoing in my mind.

“If she is dead, her testimony won’t hold the same weight.”

“She is alive,” Marco said, pointing to his screen.

“The GPS on her burner phone went dead, but her home security system just triggered an alert.”

“A silent alarm was sent to the local precinct three minutes ago.”

“My mother’s people won’t kill her there,” Dominic said, grabbing his coat from the back of the chair.

“They want the files.”

“They will take her to a secure location to find out where she kept the duplicates.”

“I am going with you,” I said.
