Dominic’s jaw tightened until the bone showed pale against his skin in the dim light of the dashboard.

“He didn’t just rule against us five years ago, Elena,” Dominic said, his voice dropping to a low growl.

“He was on the payroll.”

Marco leaned over the center console, his dark eyes scanning the columns of numbers on the laptop screen.

“These are monthly transfers,” Marco said, pointing a finger at a series of transactions.

“Fifty thousand dollars a month, originating from the offshore entity Blue Horizon.”

“The entity my mother controls,” Dominic said.

His hand gripped the steering wheel so hard the leather groaned under his palms.

“She didn’t just buy the custody recommendation,” I said, a bitter taste rising in my throat.

“She bought the entire court.”

“She bought his loyalty for life,” Dominic corrected.

The new email notification blinked at the bottom of the screen, its pale blue light casting shadows across Dominic’s face.
