The argument between Julian and Isabel was escalating in real-time on the shared drive.
Julian had uploaded a PDF titled *Confidentiality and Release Agreement*.
“You need to sign this now, Isabel,” Julian’s message read.
“I’m not signing anything until my attorney looks at it,” Isabel replied a minute later.
“We don’t have time for your attorney,” Julian typed back.
“The board is meeting at four o’clock, and this needs to be executed before then.”
I watched the cursor blink on the shared document view as Isabel opened the file.
“This says I waive all claims against the company and you personally,” she wrote.
“It protects both of us,” Julian replied.
“No, it protects your career,” she wrote back.
“You told me the CFO approved those transfers.”
“They were authorized,” Julian typed.
“But if the audit team flags the missing documentation, they will look at the administrator login.”
