“And I am not trying to ruin you,” I said. “I am simply taking back what you stole.”
“We are ruined,” Sterling said, taking off his glasses and rubbing his eyes.
“The reputation of this firm is gone,” he added.
“It doesn’t have to be,” I said.
Every eye in the room turned to me, the silence returning instantly.
“I am willing to buy out the remaining debt of Voss Holdings,” I said.
“Under one condition,” I added.
“What condition?” Sterling asked quickly, leaning forward.
“Patricia must resign immediately,” I said.
“And she must sign over all of her remaining shares to the board,” I added.
Patricia let out a cold, bitter laugh that echoed off the glass walls.
“You think you can buy us out?” she asked.
“I know I can,” I said. “I have the capital, and you have nothing but a stack of forged documents.”
Patricia reached into her leather handbag, which sat on the floor beside her.
She pulled out a single sheet of paper, folded into thirds.
She did not look at the board members.
She kept her eyes locked on mine.
