“The big one,” Elena said. “The twelve-million-dollar construction loan for the Voss commercial development in Edina.”
“That project was cancelled two years ago,” I said.
“The project was cancelled, but the loan was still fully disbursed,” Elena said.
“Where did the money go?”
“It went straight into the Delaware shell company,” Elena said. “Arthur Pendelton signed off on the disbursement schedules without any architectural inspections.”
“And my name was on those loan agreements?” I asked.
“Your forged signature was on the personal guarantee,” Elena said. “I have the PDF copies of the signature pages right here.”
“Can you prove they are forged?” I asked.
“The digital metadata on the signature files shows they were copied from your old marriage license,” Elena said. “The timestamp on the file modification is from a Saturday night when you were out of the country.”
I leaned back in my chair, the leather creaking under my weight.
