“I never signed this,” I whispered, my heart hammering against my ribs. “I’ve never even seen this document.”
“She forged your corporate credentials,” Elena said, her face pale. “She used your company to secure a massive loan.”
Before I could speak, the phone in my hand vibrated again.
The screen lit up with the same unknown number.
I pressed the screen and brought the phone to my ear.
“Claire?” a voice whispered.
“Claire?” the voice whispered.
It was Harrison.
His voice lacked its usual smooth, polished edge.
He sounded small, his breathing shallow and rapid.
“Where are you, Harrison?” I asked, gripping the phone.
“I’m out,” he said, his voice cracking. “My lawyer got the bail processed an hour ago.”
I looked over at Elena, who was watching me with sharp, narrow eyes.
“You shouldn’t be calling me,” I said. “Talk to my attorney.”
