Hannah handed a flash drive to the bailiff, who plugged it into the courtroom’s media system.

“We have the security footage from terminal one, captured at approximately three in the afternoon,” Hannah said.

The large monitor on the wall flickered to life, showing the busy security checkpoint.

The camera angle shifted to the concourse leading to Gate Seventeen.

On the screen, Marissa appeared, wearing the same cream coat she wore today.

She was holding Lily and Owen by their hands.

She stopped near a row of empty seats, pointed toward the window, and spoke to the children.

When the twins looked away, Marissa turned on her heel and walked rapidly in the opposite direction.

She did not look back.

The courtroom was dead silent, save for the sound of Owen’s soft breathing next to me.

“As you can see, Your Honor, she made no attempt to find them,” Hannah said.

“She boarded a flight to Denver ten minutes later.”

“This is a fabrication,” Vance argued, standing up.

“The video does not show the full context. My client was in a state of panic.”
