I leaned over his shoulder, my eyes straining in the dim light of the screen.

The document was a ledger for a trust fund registered under the name of the twins’ late father.

Starting six months ago, massive sums had been transferred out of the fund.

Each transaction was routed to an offshore entity called Alabaster Holdings in the Cayman Islands.

“Who owns Alabaster Holdings?” I asked.

Ryker scrolled down to the corporate registry attachment.

The sole beneficial owner was Marissa Vale.

“She cleaned them out,” I said.

“Twelve million dollars,” Ryker said, pointing to the final balance on the page.

“She left exactly forty-two dollars in the twins’ educational trust.”

“And the date of the last transfer?” Marco asked, eyes still fixed on the window.

“October fourteenth,” Ryker said.

“Three hours before she left them at Gate Seventeen.”

The megaphone outside crackled again, louder this time.

“Ryker Steel, you have sixty seconds to open the front door.”

“We have a warrant for your arrest on charges of child endangerment and abduction.”

I looked at Ryker, panic rising in my throat.
