“I missed you,” Owen whispered into her neck.
“I missed you too, my sweet boy,” Clara sobbed.
“Where is Lily?” Owen asked, pulling back slightly to look at her.
“She is upstairs sleeping,” I said, kneeling down beside them.
“We should let her sleep a little longer,” I added gently.
“She has had a very long night.”
Owen nodded, but he did not let go of Clara’s hand.
Ryker watched them, his expression softening in a way I rarely saw.
Then his phone vibrated in his hand, shattering the quiet moment.
He looked at the screen, and his face instantly went pale.
“What is it?” I asked, standing up.
Ryker did not answer right away.
He tapped the screen, reading something that made his jaw clench.
“It is an alert from our legal team,” Ryker said.
“Marissa’s lawyers just filed an emergency motion in the county court.”
