The heavy sound of footsteps echoed from the back of the church as two more officers entered, their boots loud against the stone.
Julian Voss followed them, his leather briefcase held tightly in his hand, his eyes scanning the altar.
“Evelyn,” Julian said, walking quickly to my side.
“I have the emergency injunction from the state court.”
“The Swiss accounts are officially frozen, and we have the documentation linking Marjorie’s signature to the unauthorized transfer.”
Marjorie looked at Julian, her face remaining a mask of cold defiance.
“You have nothing but ledger entries, Mr. Voss,” Marjorie said.
“I have a signed confession from your son’s primary accountant, Mrs. Caldwell,” Julian replied, pulling a manila folder from his briefcase.
“He was more than willing to cooperate once he realized the federal authorities were involved.”
Graham sank to his knees, his forehead resting against the polished wood of the altar rail.
