The Ledger of Secrets That Cost My Husband His Empire
“I’m fine,” I whispered, though my knees felt like water. “It worked, Liam.”
“The feed was clear,” Liam said, looking down at Ethan, who was now being hoisted to his feet by his lapels. “The prosecutor’s office received every single line of the digital ledger.”
Ethan glared at me, his eyes dark with a desperate, animal fury.
“You think this changes anything?” Ethan spat, his collar torn as the agents pulled him toward the door. “My lawyers will have me out before the ink on the warrant is dry.”
The lead agent, a tall woman with a badge clipped to her belt, stopped and looked at Ethan.
“You’re not going to a local precinct, Mr. Vance,” she said calmly. “The federal judge signed off on a non-bailable hold.”
She pulled a document from her folder and held it in front of his face.
“Under the RICO statute, we have frozen every asset tied to Apex Development and its subsidiaries,” she said.
Ethan’s gaze shifted from the warrant to me, his jaw tightening so hard I heard his teeth grind.
“This company is mine,” Ethan hissed at me. “I built it.”
