“Adrian is going to marry me.”

“Even if he hates me, he will do it to keep you alive.”

“And once we are married, I will make sure you disappear forever.”

I looked up at her, refusing to let her see my fear.

“Adrian will never love you,” I said softly. “You can force him into a chapel, but you will never have him.”

Camille’s face contorted with sudden rage.

She took a step forward and kicked my leg with the toe of her boot.

The sharp pain radiated up my shin, but I did not cry out.

“I don’t need his love,” Camille hissed. “I need his name, and I need his empire.”

“My father has invested too much into this alliance to let it fail because of a common girl from the streets.”

She leaned down, her face inches from mine.

“If Adrian hesitates for even a second tonight, I will tell Salvatore to pull the trigger myself.”

Before I could answer, her phone vibrated in her pocket.

She pulled it out, her brow furrowing as she looked at the screen.
