She thrust the paper directly in front of Dr. Marren’s face.
“Any attempt to remove Vivian Bennett from this estate will result in immediate arrest for custodial interference and civil rights violations.”
Dr. Marren looked down at the stamped document, his eyes scanning the lines quickly.
He looked over at Harrison, a shadow of hesitation crossing his face.
“Harrison, the judge’s signature is genuine,” Dr. Marren murmured, lowering his medical bag.
“I cannot authorize a hold under these circumstances.”
“This is administrative nonsense,” Harrison hissed, turning on Grace.
“My wife is suffering a mental breakdown, and you are enabling her.”
“Your wife is protecting her inheritance from a thief,” Grace replied calmly.
She did not look at Harrison; instead, she turned her head slightly toward me.
“Vivian, go,” Grace whispered.
“Matteo, take her out through the back pantry.”
“I will not let her leave this house,” Harrison said, reaching out to grab my arm.
Grace stepped directly between Harrison and me, her heels clicking loudly on the floorboards.
“Touch her, Harrison, and I will have the sheriff here before your mother can call her lawyers,” Grace said.
