“They are the deeds to the Cumberland Avenue estate and the primary restaurant properties,” I said.

“They belong to the family,” Helen said, her voice shaking. “To all of us, Emily.”

“They belong to me,” I replied. “Evelyn made sure of that before she went into hiding.”

Brooke looked between us, her lower lip trembling as she realized her leverage was gone.

“Emily, please,” Brooke whispered. “We had an agreement.”

“We had nothing,” I said, looking at her with nothing but disgust.

I looked at my mother, who had lied to protect her own comfort while my life was stripped away.

I looked at my father, who had secretly colluded with Gavin to steal my birthright.

“Your deal is off, Brooke,” I said. “And as for the rest of you, your time in this house is over.”

Arthur stopped on the bottom step, his fists clenching at his sides. “What are you talking about?”

“I am the sole legal owner of this property,” I said, gesturing to the heavy stone walls around us. “And the house you sleep in.”

“I am initiating immediate eviction proceedings against all three of you.”
