I held my breath, my hands gripping the edge of the table.

“Due to the severe nature of the deception,” the judge continued.

“And the clear risk to the child’s well-being.”

“The court will be awarding sole physical and legal custody to Mrs. Bellamy.”

I felt a sob rise in my throat, but I forced myself to stay quiet.

“Mr. Bellamy’s visitation rights will be severely restricted.”

“He will be allowed supervised visits once per month.”

“These visits will take place at a designated county facility.”

Grant flinched, but he didn’t look up.

“Furthermore,” Judge Harlan said.

“Mr. Bellamy is ordered to pay all back child support immediately.”

“He will also be responsible for all court costs and Mrs. Bellamy’s legal fees.”

“The frozen assets will remain frozen until a full audit is completed.”

The judge paused, looking at Grant.

“Do you understand these terms, Mr. Bellamy?”

Grant didn’t move.

Carroway nudged him gently.

“Yes, Your Honor,” Grant whispered.

“The court will recess while the formal order is drafted,” Judge Harlan said.

He picked up his gavel, ready to strike it.
