The street outside the courthouse was crowded with reporters, their cameras flashing against the gray stone columns.

“They know,” I said, watching the crowd through the tinted glass.

“Margaret released the statement an hour ago,” Alexander said. “The public knows everything now.”

He turned to me, his hand finding mine again.

“Are you ready for this?” he asked. “The press will not be quiet about it.”

“I don’t care about the press,” I said. “I only care about the boys.”

“The boys are safe at the house with Frank and the new team,” Alexander said. “This is the final step.”

The car stopped, and Frank opened the door, immediately stepping between us and the crowd of photographers.

Alexander got out first, reaching back to help me onto the pavement.

The reporters shouted questions as we walked up the wide stone steps, their voices a confusing roar.

“Mr. Sterling! Is it true your mother falsified your medical records?”

“Mr. Sterling, what about the twin boys?”

“Are you filing for full custody?”

Alexander didn’t answer, his eyes fixed on the bronze doors of the courthouse ahead.
