“Eight years ago, a sum of three million dollars was transferred from a subsidiary account of Sterling Holdings to an offshore entity,” Alexander said.

He clicked again.

“That offshore entity then transferred the exact same amount to a private account owned by Dr. Robert Vance, the head of the Sterling Fertility Clinic.”

The white-haired man, Arthur, leaned forward, his brow furrowed.

“What does a fertility clinic have to do with Sterling Holdings, Alexander?” he asked.

“Eight years ago, I was patient at that clinic,” Alexander said. “I was told, based on tests conducted by Dr. Vance, that I was permanently sterile.”

He clicked the remote again.

A document appeared on the screen. It was a medical report, but certain sections were highlighted in red.

“These are the original lab results, which we recovered from the clinic’s secure backup servers last night,” Alexander said. “They show I was completely healthy.”

The board members began to murmur, looking at each other in confusion.

“And this,” Alexander said, clicking the remote, “is the report that was handed to me. It was forged.”
