The engine turned over with a loud roar that seemed too loud in the enclosed space.

I put the car in reverse and backed out of the space.

As we approached the garage exit ramp, I saw a black SUV parked across the driveway.

It was blocking the exit.

A man was standing next to the driver’s door, talking on a radio.

“Is that one of her men?” I asked, my voice shaking.

“Yes,” Alexander said.

“Keep driving, Emma.”

“Do not stop.”

“Alexander, he’s blocking the way,” I said.

“He won’t risk hitting a car with his own CEO inside,” Alexander said.

“Drive.”

I pressed the accelerator.

The car moved forward up the ramp.

The man with the radio looked up as our headlights hit him.

He raised his hand, signaling us to stop.

He took a step toward the middle of the ramp.

“Alexander…” I said.

“Don’t stop,” he repeated.

His voice was like iron.

The man in the driveway realized we weren’t slowing down.

At the last second, he jumped back against the wall of the ramp.
