The Hidden Legacy of the Housekeeper Who Saved My Life
“This is private family business, young man,” Eleanor said, not even looking at him. “Leave immediately.”
“My sister is my family,” Johnny said, stepping right up to the tallest guard.
“Johnny, she called corporate security,” I said, trying to warn him. “They are on their way down.”
Johnny reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.
He didn’t put it to his ear; he held it out at chest level, the screen glowing.
“I’m already recording,” Johnny said, his voice steady. “Everything you say is going live to a secure server.”
Eleanor glared at him, her eyes narrowing.
“You think a cheap phone recording scares me?” she asked.
“It will scare your board of directors when they see you using brute force to steal a legal document,” Johnny said.
One of the guards moved his hand toward his jacket pocket.
“Don’t touch him,” Nathan warned, stepping forward.
“We have the legal right to secure company assets,” Eleanor said, her voice rising in frustration.
“This isn’t a company asset,” I said, holding up the envelope. “This is a personal estate document.”
