The silence in the room was heavy, broken only by the hum of the projector fan.
I could see the sweat glistening on Graham’s forehead under the harsh fluorescent lights.
“There is a way we can resolve this,” Vance said slowly, his voice barely a murmur.
He glanced at Margaret, then back to his tablet.
“I have records,” Vance said, his eyes locking onto mine. “Records that show exactly whose idea this transaction was.”
Graham took a step toward Vance, his hands clenched into fists. “Vance, shut up.”
“Sit down, Graham,” Rachel said.
Daniel’s laptop let out a sharp, high-pitched alert sound.
A new window popped up on the projector screen, showing an incoming remote connection.
Everyone turned to look at the screen.
The cursor on Daniel’s screen began to move on its own, a terminal window opening at the bottom of the interface.
“What is that?” I asked Daniel.
Daniel’s fingers flew across his keyboard, his eyes wide behind his glasses.
“Someone is trying to wipe the server,” Daniel said. “They’re doing it remotely, right now.”
