“It doesn’t matter,” Julian said, his voice cracking slightly. “The paperwork from that facility in Switzerland has loopholes.”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“Margaret kept the conservatorship terms open,” Julian explained. “She has the political power to fabricate a violation of my release terms.”
He looked down at his hands.
“She can have me locked away in an instant, claiming I am unstable and a danger to myself,” he said.
“She wouldn’t dare,” I said. “Not with this recording hanging over Ethan’s head.”
“She would do anything to protect the Caldwell name,” Julian said. “I am the easy target. If she discredits me, she discredits the evidence.”
“We won’t let her,” I said, putting a hand on his arm.
