The Frozen Secret of Crystal Oak and the Father Who Never Died
“She is at the private medical facility on the north side,” I said. “She has been there since she fell ill after my father vanished.”
I remembered the quiet, sterile room where she spent her days.
“She used to talk about my father’s work,” I continued. “Before her memory began to fail, she was always so afraid.”
“Did she ever mention the Bellamy Group?” Charles asked.
“She did, but she was always too scared to say the name out loud,” I replied. “She told me my father had found something terrible in their books.”
I remembered her whispering about missing millions and secret accounts.
“We need to go see her,” Charles said, standing up and brushing the dust from his knees. “She might have the missing piece of this puzzle.”
I stood up too, my legs feeling weak beneath me.
“She has been so weak lately,” I said. “But she might remember if I show her this.”
“We have to try,” Charles insisted. “Before Trevor or Bellamy realizes we have these papers.”
We walked out of the office and back into the main dining area of the Crystal Oak.
