Nathan did not waste a second.
His fingers flew across the keyboard, typing commands into a terminal window that I had never seen before.
The screen did not show financial ledgers or offshore account numbers.
Instead, a cascade of emerald-green code began to stream down the left side of the monitor.
I recognized the watermark in the background of the screen.
It was a stylized drawing of a white rose, the exact same logo Claire had used for her personal files.
“What is that?” I whispered, keeping my voice as low as possible.
“Claire’s core backup,” Nathan murmured, not looking away from the screen.

“But Claire built a redundancy loop into the climate control system,” he said.
He tapped a sequence of keys, and a progress bar appeared at the bottom of the screen.
“She knew they would try to isolate the girls,” he whispered.
“So she hid the uncorrupted system where they would never think to look.”
The progress bar read: *Restoring Claire_Framework_v9.2.*
“Nathan,” Vanessa’s voice warned over the intercom. “The connection is shifting. What are you accessing?”
