“It is happening,” Marcus said, his voice dropping an octave.

“The filing is dated for tomorrow morning,” Marcus said.
“Who is the signing judge?” I asked.

The name was blank, but a digital timestamp showed it was scheduled for an expedited hearing at eight o’clock.
“Once this is signed, you are locked out,” Marcus said.
“I have twelve hours,” I said.
“Less,” Marcus corrected. “They will serve you the moment you set foot near the property if they spot you.”
I picked up my Glock from the desk and checked the slide.
“Then I won’t let them see me,” I said.
I slipped the micro-transmitters into my vest pocket.
“Be careful, Evelyn,” Marcus said. “Vanessa is not just a mistress. She is a professional.”
