The Federal Agent Who Returned to Reclaim Her Shattered Home and Child
The software began mapping the flow of money.
A spiderweb diagram appeared on the screen.
The center of the web was my estate account.
The strands stretched outward to dozens of intermediary banks.
At the end of every strand was a single corporate entity: Aegis Holdings Group.
I clicked on the corporate registry for Aegis Holdings.
The company had been registered in Nevada four months ago.
The listed manager was a name I didn’t recognize: Sarah Jenkins.
But the signature on the digital filing looked familiar.
It had the same sharp, angular loops I had seen on Vanessa Vale’s correspondence.
I split the screen and loaded the audio player.
The recording was fully processed now.
I put on the headset and pressed play.
The sound of wind rustling through the pines of my estate filled my ears.
Then came Grant’s voice.
“Is the paperwork finalized?” he asked.
“The transfer went through this morning,” Vanessa answered.
Her voice was smooth, confident, and entirely lacking in warmth.
“And the deed?” Grant asked.
“The county clerk recorded it under the holding company name at noon. It’s done, Grant.”
