“But they are trying to delay the vote.”
“Why?” I asked.
“If they delay,” Adelaide said.
“Victoria can transfer more assets from the offshore accounts.”
“We have to stop them,” I said.
“I am trying,” Adelaide said.
“But I need the official FBI report.”
“Harris has it,” I said.
“He’s at the federal building,” Adelaide said.
“I can’t get him on the phone.”
I looked down at my daughter.
She was still holding my finger.
“Give me my phone,” I said to Adelaide.
Adelaide handed me my purse from the back of the wheelchair.
I pulled out my phone and dialed Harris’s direct number.
It rang three times before he answered.
“Harris,” he said.
“Agent Harris, it’s Natalie,” I said.
“I need the DNA verification report sent to the Callahan board meeting right now.”
“We’re processing the file,” Harris said.
“They are trying to delay the vote,” I said.
“If they do, the money disappears.”
“I’ll send a deputy with the certified copy,” Harris said.
“He’ll be there in ten minutes.”
“Thank you,” I said.
I hung up and looked at Adelaide.
“He’s sending it,” I said.
